As part of the Ministry of Public Works’ preparations for the rainy season, the Court of Audit approved a second time extension for the savings available in the contract for the maintenance and operation of pumping stations for rainwater in tunnels located on highways, valued at 392,600 Kuwaiti dinars.
Sources close to the Ministry of Public Works told Al-Rai that “the ministry continues its preparations for the rainy season through cleaning operations carried out by emergency teams, to avoid the formation of water pools that could disrupt vehicle traffic at certain locations.”
The sources clarified that “the relevant technical sectors are monitoring their preparations for the rainy season to ensure full readiness at sites under their supervision,” adding that work continues to ensure all teams are ready for rapid response according to pre-established plans for the relevant units.
They noted that work is being monitored around the clock to ensure the readiness of the Kuwait Public Authority’s emergency teams and to complete the provision of equipment and machinery, such as water extraction pumps and other necessary supplies.
They explained that a well-thought-out plan has been developed for this purpose, by identifying critical points that require close attention and follow-up.
The sources stated that maintenance and rainy season preparations include cleaning rainwater drainage manholes in various areas and maintaining pumping stations in tunnels on highways to ensure their safe operation, in addition to deploying mobile pumps in tunnels and critical traffic intersections, as well as coordinating with other relevant government entities, such as the Civil Defense and Fire Department, to enhance readiness and respond to any emergencies.
