"The Blue" on Rest

The Kuwait national football team will take a rest on Monday following their friendly match against Qatari side Al-Lusail, as part of their training camp in Doha in preparation for the Gulf Cup (Khaleeji 27), hosted by Saudi Arabia from September 23 to October 6.

This break allows the team to catch its breath and assess the physical and technical readiness of the players, especially since the “Blue” team’s coach, Portuguese manager Helio Sousa, ensured that all players participated in the trial match and were given full opportunity to showcase their technical and physical abilities.

Kuwait is scheduled to play a second match against Yemen on Friday in Jeddah, with the team departing for the city on Wednesday. Additionally, players from Al-Kuwait Club, who are participating in the 2024–25 AFC Champions League Two, will join the national squad.

The “Blue” team will compete in Group 1, which includes host nation Saudi Arabia, whom they will face in the opening match on September 23 at the Jeddah Superdome within King Abdullah Sports City. They will also face Iraq and Oman on September 26 and 29, respectively.

On another note, Kuwait’s Ambassador to Qatar, Ahmed Al-Sharim, affirmed that the participation of Kuwaiti national teams and clubs in Gulf tournaments will elevate the name of Kuwaiti sports, highlight the country’s rich sporting heritage, and achieve further successes.

This statement was made in a press release from the Kuwaiti Embassy in Doha, following Ambassador Al-Sharim’s visit to the national team’s camp on Saturday evening, accompanied by Diplomatic Attaché Ahmed Al-Haroun.

Al-Sharim stated that the Kuwaiti national team possesses outstanding players capable of delivering positive results in Khaleeji 27, particularly since the “Blue” team leads the historical records of this Gulf tournament with ten titles.

Ambassador Al-Sharim was received by Ayman Al-Husseini, Vice President of the Kuwait Football Association for Technical Affairs. During the visit, he met with members of the technical and administrative staff as well as the players of the “Blue” team, wishing them success in the upcoming Gulf competition and reaffirming the embassy’s support and backing for the national team.

The visit aligns with the Kuwaiti Embassy in Qatar’s commitment to supporting Kuwaitis across various fields and strengthening ties with national delegations and teams.
