"The Commercial" Enhances Customer Awareness of Cybercrimes and Their Combating

Amid the digital transformation and rapid technological advancements reshaping banking services, Kuwait Finance House continues its vigorous efforts to raise awareness about cybercrimes, emphasizing that cybersecurity is a fundamental pillar in ensuring a safe and stable banking environment. This initiative aligns with the bank’s support for the “Let’s Be Aware” campaign, launched by the Central Bank of Kuwait in collaboration with the Kuwait Banks Association and local banks.
With the growing reliance on digital financial transactions, the bank is keen to highlight the evolving risks of cybercrimes, which range from financial fraud and digital identity theft to security breaches. The bank stressed that fraudsters exploit modern technologies to devise new and complex methods aimed at deceiving customers to access their confidential data and funds.
In this context, the importance of the central virtual chamber “Aman” stands out. Established to bolster efforts against electronic and financial fraud and money laundering through cooperation between relevant authorities and the banking sector, it operates 24/7. Launched in December 2023, the chamber provides a comprehensive and rapid mechanism for handling reports related to financial fraud, thereby enhancing response speed and enabling necessary measures to mitigate potential losses and protect customer funds. It also serves as a crucial component in strengthening collaboration and integrating efforts between the banking sector and competent authorities, contributing to addressing the growing risks of cybercrimes and enhancing the security of banking services provided to customers.
Recognizing these challenges, Kuwait Finance House is committed to delivering innovative awareness initiatives aimed at empowering, educating, and equipping customers with appropriate tools and means to use electronic banking services with the highest levels of security and effectiveness. The bank places customer protection at the forefront of its priorities and conducts continuous awareness campaigns through periodic initiatives.
As cybercrimes evolve, the bank disseminates media materials—including articles, images, videos, newsletters, and targeted messages—across various media channels and digital platforms to inform customers how to detect and avoid falling victim to electronic fraud, thereby achieving the awareness objectives of the “Let’s Be Aware” campaign. The bank also participates in numerous events, activities, and educational lectures in collaboration with civil society institutions, such as ministries, government entities, and universities, to promote financial and banking literacy among the public.
The bank continues to implement an organized mechanism, having launched a series of initiatives to educate and protect customers from cyber threats. These include awareness campaigns, immediate alerts, and dedicated channels for reporting electronic fraud attempts and incidents. Additionally, the bank provides guidance on maintaining customer information security while browsing the internet.
Kuwait Finance House has commended the efforts of the Central Bank and the Banks Association in sustaining the campaign. The bank has addressed several key topics within the framework of this campaign and reaffirms its continued dedication to tackling new and important issues to deepen banking and financial awareness, combat fraud, and fight cybercrimes, thereby contributing to customer education and the achievement of the campaign’s goals.
