Dr. Khaled Muhammad Boudi, one of Kuwait’s prominent figures known for his loyalty to the nation’s developmental progress, passed away at the age of 78. In his memory, the Central Bank of Kuwait highlighted on its website the late’s contributions and sincere efforts, as well as his renowned expertise and dedication to his specialization in establishing Islamic banking.
Until his death, the late served as a member of the Supreme Sharia Supervisory Board at the Central Bank since October 2020, and played a significant role in developing the standards of the Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI) in Bahrain.
All who worked with him attest that they never saw in him anything but profound humility, noble character, and respect for others’ opinions—qualities that made him a beloved figure among all his colleagues.
Those who knew, worked with, or even heard about the late share a collective description: “A specialized professional loved by all for his expertise, work ethic, and humility,” to the extent that he can be classified as one of the builders of institutional development, combining theoretical and practical aspects with wise balance. Driven by a long history of contributing to strengthening Kuwait’s standing, his career was marked by professionalism, numerous publications, and sound judgment, making him one of those whose decisions were based on experience blended with scholarly knowledge.
The late was among the national talents characterized by wisdom, combining deep theoretical knowledge and extensive practical experience in a single professional vessel, thereby providing technical depth to all files he worked to develop.
Practically, the late’s experience and expertise actively enriched public discourse on ways to develop banking and institutional work in Kuwait, through stances that reinforced principles of integrity and anti-corruption. Through his media participation and writings, he offered approaches that focused on the importance of developing governance and oversight systems in state institutions.
In his book “A Journey in the Business World,” the late shared aspects of his experience, addressing various topics related to institutional management, starting with planning, organization, and leadership, moving through training, communication, and oversight, and reaching crisis management, investment, and corporate governance.
The late earned a PhD in Accounting from the University of Missouri and an MBA with a specialization in Accounting from Michigan State University in the United States, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Kuwait. He served as a member of the Supreme Petroleum Council in 2009, in addition to board memberships in several government and private institutions, including Bayt Al Mal, Al-Rajhi Capital (Kingdom of Bahrain), and Al-Imtiaz Investment Group.
Previously, the late worked as Assistant General Manager at Kuwait Finance House and Vice President of Integrated Global Computer Systems, alongside extensive experience in consulting for various institutions. He also participated in founding the Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI) and served on its Accounting Standards Board for two terms. Additionally, he worked as a faculty member at the University of Kuwait.
The late was distinguished by his cordial relationships with everyone, known for his remarkable commitment to developing management practices and linking theoretical knowledge with practical application, which was clearly reflected in his professional and academic career. His good relations with all constituted a broad reservoir of affection, further enriched by his expertise and knowledge.
It can be said that the late was among the most prominent national advocates for reforming fundamental laws to combat corruption, supporting the role of oversight bodies tasked with fighting it, and implementing governance systems in state institutions. He also called for the development of internal control systems and strengthening the role of internal audit bodies in government entities, granting them a higher degree of independence and establishing communication channels between them and the Court of Audit.
