Trump Leans Toward Blaming Tehran for Attack on Saudi Pipeline

U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed that Iran is most likely responsible for the attack on the East-West Pipeline in Saudi Arabia, noting that he had spoken with Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, whom he described as a “dear friend.”

When asked about the possibility that Iran was behind the attack on the oil pipeline, Trump said in Dublin, “I think so. They are most likely responsible for this.”

The U.S. president also noted that Iran-backed Houthis had asked the United States not to intervene in the conflict in Yemen.

Following his meeting with Irish President Catherine Connolly, Trump emphasized that “everything will go smoothly and wonderfully” in the region.

He added, “I think that will happen very soon... I believe it will likely be right after the midterm elections (in November). They are trying to hold out as long as possible to complicate the elections. But I think people are aware of that.”

Trump revealed that Iran had fired 111 projectiles at a U.S. aircraft carrier in the region within an hour a month ago, and that “we intercepted all of them.”

He affirmed that U.S. forces had taken control of the Strait of Hormuz and removed all mines, noting that advanced mine-clearing vessels operating in the dark had cleared the waterways.

Trump stressed that he felt no regret for launching the war, despite the potential impact of the conflict on the midterm elections scheduled for November.

In an interview with Fox News, he added that if he had to make the same decision again, “I would do exactly what I did.”
