Red Crescent Launches Awareness Campaign: First Aid... A Skill That Can Save Lives
- Training courses and workshops for volunteers and the public covering cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), bleeding management, and burn care

The Kuwait Red Crescent Society launched an event for World First Aid Day at the Avenues Mall on Saturday, aiming to raise awareness of its importance, promote its culture among community members, and reinforce essential skills for handling emergency situations.
Khaled Al-Mughamsis, Chairman of the Society’s Board of Directors, told KUNA that disseminating first aid culture and enhancing community awareness of its core skills are of great significance, given the role these skills play in saving lives and minimizing complications from injuries and emergencies until specialized medical teams arrive.
Al-Mughamsis added that the Society places great emphasis on training and awareness in the field of first aid, in line with its humanitarian mission and its commitment to strengthening community members’ ability to respond appropriately and swiftly to various emergencies. He stressed that first aid is a fundamental knowledge area that should be promoted across all segments of society and is not limited to healthcare professionals.
He noted that possessing the correct skills during the initial moments after an accident can make a real difference in protecting the victim’s life and safety. He pointed out that the Society continues to organize courses and training programs for volunteers, the public, and various entities and institutions, covering initial assessment of the injured, CPR, management of bleeding, wounds, burns, and various emergency cases.
He highlighted that the Society has focused this year on enhancing the readiness of its volunteers within emergency preparedness and response plans, through organizing diverse workshops and training courses on first aid and mechanisms for handling cases requiring rapid intervention.
He reaffirmed the Society’s commitment to expanding the scope of its training programs and strengthening its cooperation with state institutions and various entities, to reach the widest possible segment of society, especially youth, and to reinforce the concept that first aid is a shared societal responsibility and skill that can contribute to saving human lives.
He stated that commemorating World First Aid Day offers an opportunity to highlight the importance of acquiring these skills and encouraging community members to learn them, reiterating the Red Crescent’s commitment to continuing its humanitarian and awareness-raising mission and promoting first aid culture, thereby contributing to the protection of human life and reinforcing values of solidarity and social responsibility.
