Kuwait: North Korea Launches Several Ballistic Missiles

Seoul announced that North Korea launched several ballistic missiles on Saturday, following the conclusion of five-day joint military exercises between South Korea, the United States, and Japan.

Pyongyang condemned the “Freedom Edge” drills, held in international waters off the coast of South Korea, last month, describing them as a “threat” to itself and other countries in the region.

The Joint Chiefs of Staff of South Korea said in a statement that Seoul detected “the launch of several short-range ballistic missiles from the Wonsan area toward the East Sea,” also known as the Sea of Japan.

It added that intelligence agencies in South Korea and the United States “exchanged information about the launches from the initial stage, and shared missile-related information with Japan.”
