Iraqi Government: We condemn the attacks targeting Saudi Arabia and reaffirm our rejection of any aggression against its security
The Iraqi government condemned on Friday the attacks targeting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, a fraternal nation, reaffirming its rejection of any aggression that threatens the Kingdom’s security and stability. Meanwhile, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi, ordered an urgent investigation into the circumstances of the attacks and to identify those behind them.
In a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the spokesperson for the Commander-in-Chief, Sabah Al-Nu’man, said that “the Iraqi government condemns the attacks targeting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, a fraternal nation, and reaffirms its rejection of any aggression that undermines the Kingdom’s security and stability, or harms the entrenched brotherly relations between the two countries.”
He added that “the Iraqi government appreciates the Kingdom’s position and its response to the efforts made by Iraq to contain the situation, which reflects its commitment to Iraq’s security and stability, and to continuing the path of brotherly relations and cooperation in a manner that serves the interests of the two fraternal peoples.”
He continued, “In this context, the Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi, directed an urgent investigation into the circumstances of the attacks and the entities behind them, and the taking of legal action against anyone proven to be involved. He emphasized that the state will not tolerate any activity that endangers Iraq or its relations with fraternal and friendly countries.”
He noted that “the Iraqi government reaffirms that it will continue to work with brothers and friends to prevent the recurrence of such attacks, and to consolidate respect for the law and principles of good neighborliness, in a manner that protects Iraq’s interests and enhances its positive role in its regional environment.”
He pointed out that “Iraq reiterates that its territory and airspace will not be used as a launching point for attacks against any state, and that its policy is based on respecting the sovereignty of states, rejecting aggression against them, and working to ensure that its relations with its regional neighborhood serve as a bridge for cooperation and stability, rather than a arena for tension and conflict.”
