Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef stressed the importance of continuing consultations and coordination with the Iraqi and American sides, and enhancing security and defense cooperation to address common challenges in light of regional developments, in a manner that serves shared interests and contributes to preserving the security and stability of the region.
Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef chaired a meeting at Bayan Palace with delegations from the sister Republic of Iraq and the friendly United States of America. The meeting reviewed areas of joint cooperation and ways to strengthen them, attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Jaraah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Deputy Minister of Interior Major General Abdulwahab Ahmed Al-Wahayb, representatives of the Ministry of Defense, and several diplomatic, security, and military leaders.
The Iraqi delegation was led by Lieutenant General Abdulameer Al-Shamari, Director of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, while the American delegation was headed by Admiral Liam Collins, Commander of the Joint Task Force for Operation Inherent Resolve. Both delegations included a number of officials and specialized leaders from their respective sides.
At the outset of the meeting, Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef welcomed the brotherly and friendly delegations. Areas of joint cooperation and ways to strengthen them were reviewed, and several issues of mutual interest were discussed, alongside an exchange of views on regional developments and current events.
The meeting addressed a number of security and defense files of mutual interest, as well as the coordination already in place among participating parties, thereby enhancing integration and the exchange of expertise, and supporting efforts aimed at consolidating security and stability in the region.
