Ramí Tahboub, the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Kuwait, stated that the decision by 12 Western and European countries to impose national restrictions and ban the import of goods from Israeli settlements in the West Bank marks a shift from political condemnation to practical measures to confront illegal settlement activities. He simultaneously praised Kuwait’s steadfast and historically rooted stance in supporting the Palestinian cause and the Palestinian people.
This came during a meeting on Thursday morning between Tahboub and Al-Rai Editor-in-Chief, Waleed Al-Jassim. The discussion covered various issues related to Palestinian developments and international positions, as well as the historic and distinctive relations between Kuwait and Palestine.
Tahboub commended the significant role played by the State of Kuwait—its leadership, government, and people—in supporting the Palestinian cause. He emphasized that Kuwait’s supportive position toward Palestine is not a product of current circumstances, but rather stems from a long history of political, humanitarian, and popular support for the Palestinian cause.
He noted that Kuwait has always stood by the Palestinian people and their just cause, maintaining consistent positions across various forums, alongside the official and popular support it provides.
He also appreciated the care and attention afforded to members of the Palestinian community in Kuwait, highlighting the warmth, support, and respect they receive. He pointed out that Kuwaiti-Palestinian relations are characterized by deep bonds that extend beyond official ties to encompass strong historical and popular connections.
The Palestinian Ambassador praised Al-Rai newspaper, commending its accuracy and professionalism in reporting news and following up on various issues. He highlighted the media role played by the newspaper in covering local, Arab, and international events.
He expressed his wishes for Al-Rai to achieve further success and progress, reaffirming his appreciation for the newspaper’s prominent media role and its commitment to delivering news and information with accuracy and professionalism.
