$1 Million from Al-Mutahin Company to the Kuwait Emergency Response Fund

The Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development announced that the Kuwait Flour Mills and Bakeries Company has made a financial contribution of one million US dollars to the Kuwait Emergency Response Fund, thereby joining the list of national institutions supporting the fund since its launch.
In a press statement, the Kuwait Fund noted that the participation of the Kuwait Flour Mills and Bakeries Company carries special significance given its position within Kuwait’s food security system and its role over decades in supplying essential food goods and products to the local market.
It added that this contribution reflects the extension of institutions with vital roles into national initiatives, and their participation in supporting resources allocated to address damages and needs arising from emergency circumstances.
The Kuwait Flour Mills and Bakeries Company is one of the key national institutions in the food manufacturing sector. Established in 1961, it has played a pivotal role over the decades in supporting Kuwait’s food security and ensuring the continuous supply of essential goods during crises and exceptional conditions. This includes the Iraqi invasion in 1990, the COVID-19 pandemic, and challenges stemming from the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and its repercussions on supply chains and the flow of raw materials. Throughout these events, the company has continued to secure basic food needs, affirming its role as a cornerstone of food security in Kuwait.
The Kuwait Emergency Response Fund was launched on July 5 last year, initiated by the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development and approved by the Council of Ministers. The Kuwait Fund will manage the fund and oversee its operations, directing its resources to finance needs related to response, recovery, and repairing damages to the state’s essential infrastructure and services.
