Israeli Army Intensifies Operations to Prevent Hamas Re-Armament

He added that, as part of these efforts, the army destroyed approximately 20 above-ground and underground weapons depots through air strikes.

According to a security source, these depots had recently been refurbished or re-armed, as part of the movement’s efforts to regain its strength.

The Israeli newspaper reported: “The General Security Service (Shin Bet) and the Israeli army are currently conducting operations on two fronts against Hamas: the first to prevent it from storing weapons or opening previous depots, and the second to target its officials in the military wing, among other objectives aimed at preventing it from regaining its strength.”

A security source said: “Once we target such a depot, a Hamas faction or company becomes unable to possess the necessary means of combat to operate... We focus our efforts on preventing Hamas from gaining more strength.”

He clarified that “these weapons are not intended solely to enhance the movement’s control over the Gaza Strip, but also to operate against Israeli army forces on the Yellow Line or against settlements. We have targeted several rocket launch platforms that Hamas had reactivated.”
