UAE: We hope Algeria's decision to sever ties is temporary

The United Arab Emirates has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining relations with all countries in a manner that serves the interests of their peoples.

In a statement published by the official news agency (WAM), the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that “in light of the decision by the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, a sisterly country, to sever ties with the United Arab Emirates, the UAE reiterates its appreciation for its relations with all countries and its constant dedication to developing and strengthening them, in a way that serves common interests and enhances understanding, cooperation, and prosperity.”

It added, “The UAE looks forward to this decision being temporary, so as to preserve the fraternal bonds between the two sister peoples.”

The ministry further emphasized the UAE’s appreciation for the Algerian people and its pride in the ties connecting the two nations, particularly with members of the Algerian community residing in the country and visitors, and its commitment to sustaining and strengthening these ties and shared interests.
