"Communications": Accelerating the completion of Google Cloud data center projects in Kuwait

The Public Authority for Communications and Information Technology (PACTI) held a meeting on Thursday, chaired by Board Chairman Dr. Khaled Al-Zamil, to review the latest developments regarding Google Cloud’s data center project in Kuwait and the associated infrastructure requirements.
In a statement to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), the Authority noted that the meeting was attended by Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Public Works, Kifaya Al-Najdi; Acting Assistant Undersecretary for the Electric Transmission Networks Sector at the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, Engineer Faisal Al-Samit; Shaima Al-Turkiet, Regional Manager for Google Cloud in Kuwait; and representatives from participating entities and PACTI specialists.
The Authority added that the meeting discussed the progress of constructing Google Cloud’s data centers in Kuwait, which are scheduled to be built in the southern areas of Al-Mutlaa Residential City, Jabir Al-Ahmad Residential City, and Al-Salhiya Agricultural City. The discussions also covered the project’s infrastructure needs, readiness levels, and the necessary steps and requirements to complete the works according to established plans.
The Authority’s statement highlighted that participants commended the efforts of relevant government entities and the high level of cooperation and coordination among them to support the project’s completion. They emphasized the importance of integrating government efforts to support and accelerate the implementation of strategic projects in the communications and information technology sector, thereby contributing to the development of digital infrastructure and enhancing Kuwait’s standing in this field.
