On a Chinese initiative: Establishment of an international alliance to combat telecommunications and cyber fraud

Representatives from 46 founding countries and 34 observer countries, along with four international organizations including the United Nations and the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL), attended the inaugural conference held in Lianyungang, eastern China.

The alliance, initiated by the Chinese government, is an intergovernmental organization aimed at enhancing cooperation among law enforcement agencies in combating cross-border fraud conducted via telecommunications, cyberspace, and related crimes.

Representatives from China and other founding members, including Vietnam, Laos, Kenya, Cambodia, Pakistan, and Russia, spoke at the conference, while an INTERPOL representative delivered a message of congratulations.

According to the statement, establishing a more focused, professional, efficient, and action-oriented intergovernmental organization based on international agreements will help coordinate efforts to combat telecommunications and cyber fraud and related crimes, thereby protecting the security, legitimate rights, and interests of individuals, legal entities, and other organizations.
