Two Americans Spend Millions to Provide a Better Life for Their Dog!

CNN - Howard and Suzie Rubin spent nearly $2 million renovating their New York City home to accommodate their dog, Buster, adding a pool, expansive spaces, and televisions tuned to his favorite programs. They are now listing the dog-designed home for sale to make life easier for their aging pet.

Howard says he and his wife bought the New York home for about $1.88 million, then spent a similar amount on renovations that benefited both them and their Border Collie, Buster, whom they dubbed “Buster Resort.”

They are also selling the home because of Buster, who at 9 years old suffers from arthritis.

Howard says they will move to Florida, where they can provide a smaller, single-story home for him, along with a warmer climate.

“This will provide a better quality of life for the dog, and we’re fine with that,” Howard said. “We’re fortunate that we’re able to do these things.”

Howard said there was always something special about Buster. He worked as a therapy dog, including helping people with Alzheimer’s disease. Howard said they discovered early on that he had an unusual ability to understand.

Listing agent Sally Slater of Douglas Elliman said they hope to receive an offer soon, but the move doesn’t mean the renovations for Buster are over. The couple has already begun making modifications to their new home in Florida.

Howard noted, “It’s not about how much we spend or things like that. It’s about when you have a pet, you want to provide an environment that you share with him and allow him to be himself.”
