The Arab League endorsed the decisions of the Lebanese government

The Council of the Arab League, at the level of Arab foreign ministers, affirmed in the conclusion of its 166th session, convened in Cairo, its “full solidarity with the Lebanese Republic and its absolute support for Lebanon’s sovereignty, independence, and national unity,” stressing “the exclusive right of the Lebanese state to make its sovereign national decisions free from any external interventions or pressures.”

The Council endorsed the Lebanese government’s decisions regarding the monopoly of arms by the state, expressing “its support for the Lebanese government’s measures to reclaim the authority to decide on war and peace, and to concentrate weapons in the hands of the army and legitimate security forces, in accordance with the Taif Agreement and UN Resolution 1701,” while affirming “its backing of the government’s decisions to ban military and security activities outside the legal framework, halt Iranian interference in internal affairs, and consolidate a policy of sovereignty and positive neutrality.”
