258 intersections linked to the control room and 338 cameras to monitor the "return to schools"

Abdullah Buhasan, Acting Director of the Traffic Awareness Department at the General Directorate of Traffic, confirmed that the General Directorate of Traffic has completed its preparations to coincide with the return of schools next week, as part of its field and awareness efforts and the Ministry of Interior’s “Waqaaya wa Aman” (Protection and Safety) campaign, aimed at enhancing road safety and ensuring smooth traffic flow during peak hours.

In an interview with Kuwait Radio, Buhasan explained that the field preparations of the General Directorate of Traffic include deploying 200 traffic patrols across various roads and locations, alongside 420 traffic officers to strengthen field presence, monitor traffic movement, and manage traffic congestion.

He noted that there are 258 intersections connected to the traffic control room, where traffic signals are programmed by the room according to traffic density, thereby helping to regulate vehicle movement and reduce congestion.

Buhasan emphasized that these preparations reflect the General Directorate of Traffic’s commitment to providing the highest levels of road safety with the start of the academic year and students’ return to schools, in addition to intensifying traffic awareness campaigns and urging drivers to comply with traffic regulations.
