Five residential areas accounted for approximately 1.47 million of Kuwait’s total population of 5.31 million, representing about 27.7%. Salwa led with approximately 358,800 residents, followed by Farwaniya with 310,600, then Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh with 285,500, Hawalli with 257,800, and Al-Mabroukah with 257,200.

According to geographic data from the Civil Information Agency, a map as of June 2026 reveals a clear disparity in the sizes of settlements across areas, with continued population concentration in traditional districts alongside the rise of new residential cities in the north and south.

Khaitan ranked sixth with 202,900 residents, followed by Manqaf with 146,800, then Jabir Al-Ahmed with 132,300, and Fahaheel with 110,200. Sabah Al-Ahmed City had a population of approximately 107,300.

New residential cities stand out as a key feature of the transformation in Kuwait’s demographic landscape, led by Al-Mutlaa in the north and Sabah Al-Ahmed City in the south. Al-Mutlaa’s population reached 43,400, establishing it as one of the prominent population clusters in the northern part of the country. Meanwhile, Sabah Al-Ahmed City’s population exceeded 107,000, making it one of the largest residential cities in the south, reflecting a growing shift of population growth toward new cities.

According to the data, southern Kuwait contains some of the country’s largest population clusters, with the total population of the southern areas shown on the map reaching approximately 1.21 million.
