Muscat completes evacuation of 16 crew members from the tanker 'Sidr'

Oman announced that it had completed a support mission for a Saudi oil tanker that was attacked in the Strait of Hormuz a week ago, evacuating 16 of its 25 crew members after the attack killed two Filipino sailors. Riyadh held Iran responsible for the incident.

The Oman Maritime Security Center stated that relevant authorities had concluded their support and assistance missions for the oil tanker Sidr, which flies the flag of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, following an incident in which it was struck by a projectile two nautical miles northwest of Musandam Governorate.

It added that a ship of the Royal Navy of Oman provided logistical support to the tanker’s 25-member crew, evacuating 16 of them while providing necessary medical care. The incident resulted in the deaths of two crew members.
