Al-Huwail: Mandating quarterly development plans for managers and interim boards in cooperatives

Al-Huwail said in a statement to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that this step is part of a comprehensive reassessment of directors and interim boards, aimed at enhancing administrative and professional performance, strengthening governance, and tightening oversight in the cooperative sector.
She added that quarterly development plans aim to address shortcomings, improve services, and enhance the financial and operational performance of associations, subject to periodic follow-up and evaluation by the relevant sector.
She noted that the evaluation also includes monitoring the extent to which observations and reasons necessitating appointments have been addressed, and verifying the absence of conflicts of interest or practices that could affect the integrity and independence of administrative and financial decisions.
She emphasized that the continuation of interim appointments would be linked to performance levels, compliance, evaluation results, the implementation of development plans, and adherence to integrity and governance requirements, stressing that appropriate measures would be taken against any shortcomings or failure to meet appointment requirements.
Al-Huwail stated that interim appointments are responsibilities that require tangible results during the appointment period, ensuring the protection of associations’ funds and shareholders’ interests, and reinforcing the principles of transparency, integrity, and oversight in cooperative work.
She stressed that no interim appointment is immune from evaluation and accountability, affirming that those who achieve results and safeguard trust will continue, while those found deficient or involved in conflicts of interest will have no place in managing shareholders’ and state funds.
