Egypt exported electricity worth EGP 1.1 billion in 12 months
- $25 billion for state-funded treatment from January 1 to the end of August
Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Engineer Karim Badawi, stated that developing infrastructure in the petroleum sector represents one of the main pillars for enhancing energy security, supporting the competitiveness of the Egyptian economy, upgrading refineries, and improving the efficiency of crude oil and petroleum products transportation networks, as well as expanding storage and trading capacities. These priorities are at the forefront of the petroleum sector’s agenda in the coming phase.
He added that during a meeting of the general assembly of the Petroleum Pipelines Company and the Asyut Petroleum Refining Company, these efforts aim to maximize the utilization of Egypt’s petroleum resources, increase the added value of crude oil, and enhance the efficiency of the petroleum products trading system. This will strengthen Egypt’s position as a regional hub for trading and exchanging petroleum products, leveraging its strategic geographic location and integrated infrastructure network.
A recent report covering foreign trade data revealed that Egypt exported approximately 1.1 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity between June 2025 and May 2026, over a 12-month period. The total exported quantity reached 1.1 billion kilowatt-hours, valued at 1.1 billion Egyptian pounds.
Data from the Central Bank of Egypt showed that the money supply in Egypt rose by 17.5 percent year-on-year in July 2026, continuing its growth compared to the same period last year. It increased to approximately 15.49 trillion pounds by the end of July, up from 13.18 trillion pounds in July 2025, representing a year-on-year increase of 2.31 trillion pounds.
The Central Bank of Egypt stated in a press release: “The money supply is one of the most prominent indicators reflecting the volume of liquidity circulating in the economy, as it includes cash in circulation outside the banking system, current and savings deposits, and time deposits in local currency.”
The Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population announced that the budget for state-funded treatment reached $25 billion during the period from January 1 to the end of August 2026. A total of 2.6 million people benefited from these services, with 2.9 million treatment decisions issued at state expense.
