Flock of Birds Raises Concerns Over Poland's Sky

Warsaw, Reuters – Polish authorities said that a suspected violation of the country’s airspace was later found to be caused by a large flock of birds coming from the other side of the border with Belarus.

A spokesperson for the Polish Armed Forces Operations Command told Reuters that the incident prompted the Polish military to send helicopters to verify information about the potential breach detected by radio navigation systems shortly after local time this afternoon.

The military later stated on the X platform, “The indicators detected by radar systems were not related to a violation of Polish airspace, but were caused by a large flock of birds, whose passage was monitored by air surveillance systems.”

In a separate post on X, the Polish Air Navigation Services Agency said that “Rzeszów airport in the southeast of the country resumed operations after a brief suspension to facilitate military air traffic.”
