“BLUE” Celebrates a Quarter Century of Stardom... at the Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Centre
- The return to Kuwait after the initial experience in April 2025 carries a special significance
Following the massive public turnout that the renowned British band BLUE received during its first concerts in Kuwait in April 2025, the four members—Anthony Costa, Duncan James, Lee Ryan, and Simon Webbe—are returning to their Kuwaiti audience for two shows on October 22 and 23 at the National Theatre within Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Centre. These performances are part of a global tour celebrating the band’s 25th anniversary, featuring their greatest hits alongside new tracks from their latest album, “Reflections.”
Fawaz Al-Sharhan, Managing Director and Partner at FIM Entertainment, told Al-Rai that BLUE’s return to Kuwait coincides with a milestone of particular importance in the band’s career, which has managed to maintain its presence in the music scene over a quarter of a century. He emphasized that this new visit will be distinct due to its connection with the 25th-anniversary tour.
“The return to Kuwait after the initial experience in April 2025 has a special character, especially since the audience responded enthusiastically, and it was clear that there is a genuine connection between the fans and the band’s music. Therefore, when the 25th-anniversary tour came around, Kuwait was among the destinations we wanted the band to revisit and reconnect with their fans,” he added.
He further noted, “The band’s value today stems not only from the success of their old songs but also from their ability to endure. We are talking about four artists who began their journey at the turn of the millennium and succeeded in building a name that transcended Britain to reach a wide global audience, while continuing to perform and produce new works. Sustaining a career for 25 years in an industry that constantly changes is no easy feat.”
He explained that the band’s career reflects the magnitude of their success since their inception, “having sold over 16 million albums worldwide, topping the UK charts with three consecutive albums, and having 11 of their songs enter the Top 10. These figures illustrate the extent of their reach, particularly during a period when British pop music enjoyed significant global presence.”
Regarding the concert program, Al-Sharhan said, “The lineup will be diverse. The audience will certainly hear a selection of songs associated with the band’s name, such as ‘All Rise,’ ‘Too Close,’ ‘One Love,’ and ‘If You Come Back,’ among other works that established their presence in their early days. At the same time, there will be space for new material from the ‘Reflections’ album, which is important because celebrating the anniversary is not just about revisiting the past but also showcasing them in their current phase.”
Al-Sharhan concluded, “I believe the uniqueness of this return lies in the fact that it follows a successful experience with the Kuwaiti audience and simultaneously marks an important milestone in BLUE’s history. We are dealing with a band celebrating a quarter-century of work, still capable of performing their songs for both new and old audiences, alongside their recent works.”
