Kuwait Youth Team Defeats Cambodia 5-0

Kuwait’s youth national football team secured its first victory in the qualifiers for the 2027 AFC U-20 Championship, defeating Cambodia 5-0 in their final Group Seven match.

Japan had already secured their spot in the finals with a 4-0 win over Yemen.

Japan topped the standings with nine points from three matches, while Kuwait, Yemen, and Cambodia each finished with three points, placing Kuwait second.

The “Blue” team opened the scoring in the 12th minute when Youssef Al-Lanqawi received the ball inside the penalty area and fired a powerful shot past the stationary Cambodian goalkeeper Samnang Sambath.

Omar Al-Azmi doubled Kuwait’s lead in the 26th minute, pouncing on the ball inside the box, skillfully turning, and shooting directly into the net despite the efforts of the Cambodian goalkeeper to make a save.

Cambodia nearly reduced the deficit in the 32nd minute, but an unmarked Sook Krea Ly headed the ball over the bar from a left-side attempt.

Kuwait scored their third goal five minutes before halftime, as Abdullah Al-Qarza’s pass from the right slipped past Cambodian captain Phrik Van and goalkeeper Samnang, leaving Musfer Al-Adwani with an easy task to slot the ball into an empty net.

Al-Qarza added a fourth goal in the 55th minute by successfully converting a penalty kick awarded after a handball by David Long. Al-Adwani sealed the victory nine minutes later by finishing off a rebound into the net.
