Announcement of the “Blue” list tomorrow, Sunday... Departure to Doha on Wednesday

The technical staff of the Kuwait national football team, led by Portuguese coach Helio Sousa, will announce the “Blue” squad’s list on Sunday. The team is scheduled to depart for the Qatari capital, Doha, on Wednesday for a training camp in preparation for the “Gulf Cup 27,” set to take place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, from September 23 to October 6.

The first team gathering is expected to take place on Monday, when the selected players will undergo medical examinations under the supervision of Dr. Abdulmajid Al-Bannai, head of the medical staff.

The squad is expected to comprise between 26 and 30 players. However, fewer players will travel to the Doha camp due to Kuwait Club players’ involvement in their match against UAE’s Al-Ittihad Kalba in Kuwait on September 16, which marks the opening of the AFC Champions League Two. These players will rejoin their national team colleagues immediately after the match.

The “Blue” team is not expected to play friendly matches during the Doha camp. Instead, the technical staff will focus on daily training sessions. The team will participate in a single international friendly against Yemen on September 18 in Jeddah, where they will move on September 15 as part of the final phase of preparations.

Kuwait will compete in the Gulf Cup in Group 1, alongside host nation Saudi Arabia, whom they will face in the opening match on September 23 at the Jeddah Superdome within King Abdullah Sports City. They will also face Iraq and Oman on September 26 and 29, respectively.

As part of their preparations for the Gulf Cup, Oman’s national team is holding a training camp in Jeddah ahead of the tournament’s launch.

The “Red” team (Oman) previously held a domestic training camp last month under Moroccan coach Tariq Al-Skati, whom the Oman Football Association recently appointed. Prior to that, Oman conducted an overseas training camp in Indonesia in June, where they played two friendlies: a 3-0 loss to the host nation and a 4-1 victory over Mozambique.
