224,200 registered economic establishments... 188.8 thousand of which are active

Data from the Public Authority for Civil Information revealed that the total number of registered economic establishments as of June 30, 2026, reached 224,200, including 188,800 active entities. The private sector accounted for 220,000 establishments, comprising 184,900 active units, 26,700 under research, and 8,500 terminated. Meanwhile, the number of government entities stood at 4,151, including 3,921 active, 215 under research, and 6 terminated.

Organizationally, active entities were distributed among 95,600 main centers, 53,700 single entities, 39,100 branches, and 463 service centers. The number of non-active entities reached 35,400, consisting of 15,200 single entities, 13,100 main centers, 7,091 branches, and 73 service centers.

Data on economic activities showed a continued concentration of activity in the commercial and service sectors. Wholesale and retail trade, along with vehicle repair, led with 58,200 active entities, followed by real estate, leasing, and business services with 48,000. The agriculture, fishing, and forestry sector accounted for 18,500, while manufacturing recorded 14,200. Hotels and restaurants numbered 13,900. Activities in community and personal services involved 10,400 active entities, construction accounted for 6,590, transportation, storage, and communications for 5,211, and the financial intermediation sector recorded 5,179.

Regarding corporate structure, the total number of main centers reached 108,700. Of these, 91,000 owned a single branch, including 81,300 active ones. There were 7,946 centers owning two branches and 3,389 centers owning three branches. Additionally, 227 main centers managed more than 25 branches.

The data also indicated that 95,400 main centers engaged in a single economic activity, including 85,200 active ones. In contrast, 6,573 centers engaged in two activities, and 3,095 engaged in three activities. Only 44 entities engaged in more than 25 activities.

Geographically, the Capital Governorate led the distribution of active government entities with 1,098, followed by Al Ahmadi with 745, Hawalli with 617, Farwaniya with 570, Jahra with 482, and Mubarak Al-Kabeer with 324, along with 85 entities with unspecified locations. In the private sector, the Capital Governorate hosted the largest concentration of active establishments, totaling 47,400, driven by the concentration of activities in Qibla (18,500), Shuwaikh Industrial (9,818), Al-Sharq (8,805), and Al-Mirqab (4,171).

Hawalli Governorate ranked second with 34,600 entities, primarily concentrated in Hawalli (17,100) and Salmiya (12,000). Farwaniya Governorate followed with 30,700 entities, led by Farwaniya (8,010), Ghabra Al-Shuyoukh (5,052), Khaitan (4,705), and Al-Rey (4,593).

Al Ahmadi Governorate recorded 28,900 active entities, concentrated in Fahaheel (7,227), Mazraat Al-Wafra (3,381), and Manqaf (3,159). The number of active entities in Jahra Governorate reached 19,100, led by Jahra (4,342), Faid (3,765), and Abdali (3,294).
