Vance: Oil flow through the Strait of Hormuz has returned to nearly pre-war levels

US Vice President JD Vance said on Thursday that the flow of oil through the Strait of Hormuz has returned “almost” to pre-war levels in the Middle East and before Tehran closed the vital energy supply chokepoint.

Speaking to reporters at the White House, Vance said, “If we go back three months, how much oil and gas was passing through the strait under Iranian threats? Essentially nothing. Now, it has almost returned to what it was before the conflict” in February, following the US-Israeli attack on the Islamic Republic.

Vance stressed that the United States does not intend to hold talks with Iran unless Tehran halts its attacks on commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz. He added to journalists, “They must stop (doing that)... It’s that simple.”
