12,000 students benefit from the school bag project
Hamad Al-Aoun, the General Manager of the Salam Charity and Humanitarian Association, announced that approximately 12,000 students from needy families benefited from the school bag project, which includes various educational supplies such as clothing, stationery, shoes, and more. This initiative enables students to begin their new academic year without feeling any difference compared to their peers.
During the opening ceremony of the school bag distribution exhibition on Wednesday at the venue of the Islamic World Charity Organization in the Jahra area, Al-Aoun revealed that around 17,000 students were registered in the project for the current year, emphasizing that the association aims to include all applicants in the coming years.
He explained that the association eliminated previous bureaucratic procedures by providing a unique barcode for family registration, ensuring that beneficiaries receive assistance in a manner that preserves their dignity and prevents them from feeling like they are receiving charity.
He noted that the time required to serve each family is approximately 10 minutes, adding that the exhibition allows students the freedom to choose colors and styles that suit them among the various school supplies.
Regarding the selection mechanism for beneficiaries, he stated that the association launched an online registration link about a month ago, followed by categorizing the groups and analyzing the data and information provided by each family to verify its accuracy. Applications are then accepted based on eligibility criteria, with the project implemented under the supervision of the Ministry of Social Affairs and in the presence of its representatives.
Al-Aoun expressed his sincere gratitude and appreciation to the donating companies and the people of Kuwait for their support of the project, affirming that their trust and contributions significantly contributed to reaching approximately 12,000 beneficiaries this year, compared to between 1,800 and 2,600 students during the first year of the project’s launch.
