Al-Khaleej Continues to Develop National Workforce and Prepare Youth for the Labor Market

Gulf Bank concluded its annual summer training program for university students, held from August 9 to 27, 2026, in partnership with Kuwait Achieve, as part of the bank’s ongoing commitment to developing national talent and empowering youth with practical experience to prepare them for the labor market.
Participants engaged in an intensive three-week program comprising hands-on courses across various bank departments, including Treasury, Risk Management, Retail Banking, Customer Service, Marketing, and Corporate Communications. The program provided them with a close-up view of how a modern financial institution operates through both operational and strategic roles.
Designed to go beyond the traditional observation-based training model, the program introduced students to the fundamentals of financial markets, risk assessment, customer experience, retail banking products, marketing strategies, corporate communications, and the role of digital channels in enhancing customer engagement with banks.
Through rotational training across different departments, participants acquired practical skills in problem-solving, communication, teamwork, customer understanding, analytical thinking, and career decision-making, alongside a clearer understanding of how various banking functions integrate to serve customers and support the national economy.
The program also gave students the opportunity to better understand the skills required in the workplace and to identify potential career paths within the financial sector. Gulf Bank aims, by linking academic education with practical challenges, to empower young people to enter the job market with greater confidence, deeper professional awareness, and a practical understanding of employer expectations.
At the same time, the program provided the bank with a valuable opportunity to directly hear the views of the new generation, including their fresh insights, evolving expectations, and perceptions regarding how youth interact with brands, technology, financial services, and digital platforms. Their observations can contribute to developing the bank’s youth-oriented products, communication strategies, and digital customer experiences, ensuring that Gulf Bank continues to meet the needs and aspirations of new generations.
This exchange holds particular significance as younger generations increasingly influence the future of the banking sector. Their expectations regarding simplicity, speed, personalization, digital accessibility, and user experience are driving financial institutions to redesign their products and services. Thus, early engagement with youth not only enhances talent development but also fosters innovation and reinforces a more customer-centric approach within the bank.
In parallel, the program helped enhance trainees’ professional skills and broaden their knowledge of the banking sector, better preparing them for their future careers. They gained valuable practical experience, developed a deeper understanding of the nature and diversity of banking roles, and had the opportunity to build professional networks with bank employees.
The university students’ summer training program aligns with Gulf Bank’s strategy of investing in young national talent and building a strong foundation of qualified competencies to support sustainable economic growth in Kuwait. It also reflects the bank’s commitment to supporting initiatives that enhance youth readiness for the labor market and contribute to preparing a new generation of professionals capable of leading the future.
The program also contributes to strengthening collaboration between the private sector and educational institutions to prepare a new generation of national talents capable of meeting labor market demands, thereby positively impacting the national economy and the state’s efforts to entrench the principles of sustainability.
