UAE and Kurdistan Emphasize the Importance of Consolidating Security, Stability, and Lasting Peace

Emirati President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Kurdistan Regional Government Prime Minister Masrour Barzani met in Abu Dhabi to discuss the latest developments and updates in the region, in the presence of Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohamed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

The official WAM News Agency reported in a statement on Tuesday evening that Mohamed bin Zayed and Barzani discussed “various aspects of the fraternal relations between the UAE in general and the Kurdistan Region in particular, and ways to develop cooperation to the benefit of the two brotherly peoples and to contribute to realizing their aspirations for development and a more prosperous future.”

The two sides also exchanged views on “a number of issues and topics of mutual interest,” and emphasized “the importance of working to consolidate the foundations of security, stability, and lasting peace in the Middle East region, which serves the interests of all its peoples.”

The Erbil government stated in a separate statement that the two sides “condemned the recent attacks on the UAE, while stressing the necessity of protecting the security and stability of the region.”

On another note, Mohamed bin Zayed affirmed during his reception of participants in the “2026 UN Peacekeeping Operations Leaders Workshop,” hosted by the UAE, that “the country believes that consolidating the foundations of security and stability is a fundamental pillar for achieving development anywhere in the world.”
