The general assembly elections of the Popular Theater Troupe, held on Wednesday, resulted in the election of a new board of directors, which will lead the troupe over the next two years, during a meeting convened at its headquarters in the Disman area.
The administrative and financial reports of the troupe were also approved during the meeting, prior to the announcement of the new board of directors, which is composed as follows: Artist Jasem Al-Nabhan as President, Khalifa Khalifouh as Vice President, Mohammed Al-Faraj as Secretary General, Abdullah Al-Shatti as Financial Manager, and Majbel Salem as Head of Public Relations.
Meanwhile, Assistant Secretary General for Administrative and Financial Affairs at the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters, Muassad Al-Zamil, stated that the Council’s role involves overseeing and supporting the four private theater troupes.
In his first statement since being elected president of the Popular Theater Troupe’s board of directors, Al-Nabhan said, “We ask God to grant us the strength to continue contributing.”
He also expressed his happiness at this gathering, emphasizing that the meeting of Popular Theater members at their new headquarters reflects a beautiful image embodying the spirit of a single family uniting the troupe’s members.
He stressed that the members of the Popular Theater Troupe came together today as one family at their new headquarters, while simultaneously exercising their right to elect a new board of directors after the appointed one.
He added, “We ask Almighty God to grant us health and well-being, and to endow us with energy and strength so that we may continue to contribute and serve the Popular Theater Troupe and its family, and through them, serve everyone working in this field.”
He noted that arts and literature endure, expressing his hope that everyone’s efforts will combine to contribute with the spirit and love that previously united the members of the Popular Theater Troupe. He continued, “Our love for one another reflects our love for our land and our country, our beloved Kuwait. We are ready to contribute day and night.”
Al-Nabhan also sent a message of thanks and gratitude to everyone who inquired about him and expressed concern for his health during his hospital stay, emphasizing that the love he sensed from the public and his colleagues provided him with the greatest support.
He concluded, “I am enriched by your love and the love of all people. In truth, I possess a great treasure that many do not have: the love of people. It is the love of my audience, and the love of my brothers and colleagues in theater.”
On the sidelines of the meeting, a dinner party was held to celebrate the safe recovery of the distinguished artist Jasem Al-Nabhan, marking his discharge from the hospital and full recovery, amidst an atmosphere of love, appreciation, and well-wishes for his continued health and well-being.
