Death Toll from Nepal Floods Rises to 1,114

The death toll from the floods that struck Nepal last Wednesday rose to 1,114, while approximately 3,900 people remain missing.

Nepal News Agency reported on Wednesday, quoting Lhakpa Chhetri, spokesperson for Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, that joint operations involving the army, police, Armed Police Force, and international rescue teams have so far rescued 11,993 people, including more than 300 foreign nationals.

It added that 1,114 bodies have been recovered, while around 3,900 people remain missing, including approximately 590 foreigners from 34 countries.

International teams from India, China, South Korea, and Singapore are participating in a massive search and rescue operation to identify the victims, following devastating floods that swept through the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa.
