Bisant: Iran faces three options.. a Guards coup, the street, or a return to negotiations

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said Iran faces three options amid mounting pressure: the Revolutionary Guard could turn on itself, the people could rise against the regime, or Tehran could return to the negotiating table.
Bessent’s remarks came alongside a US campaign to tighten economic and financial pressure on Iran, with him asserting that Washington’s allies support the “economic pariah” campaign against Tehran.
The US Treasury Secretary stated that Washington would pursue “any entity supporting the Iranian regime” and work to close any channels for funneling funds to Iran, noting that his country is holding constructive dialogues with China regarding the Iranian file.
He emphasized that Iran is currently unable to access the US dollar, stressing that the United States will continue to pressure it until it is prepared to reach an agreement.
Bessent’s comments place economic pressure and sanctions within a strategy aimed at pushing Tehran to reassess its calculations, amid anticipation of whether it will choose escalation, face internal pressures, or return to a diplomatic track.
