Mohammed bin Salman and Haitham bin Tariq discussed efforts to preserve regional security

Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tariq discussed “developments in the region and the efforts undertaken to preserve its security and stability” in Jeddah on Tuesday.

The official Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported in a statement that Mohammed bin Salman and Haitham bin Tariq reviewed “bilateral relations, areas of bilateral cooperation, and promising opportunities to enhance and develop it across various fields, in addition to discussing developments in the region and the efforts made to safeguard its security and stability.”

Oman News Agency reported that Haitham bin Tariq and Mohammed bin Salman discussed “the trajectory of the solid fraternal relations between the two brotherly countries, and ways to develop them across various sectors in a manner that serves common interests.”

They also “exchanged views on the latest developments of major current issues, and solutions capable of achieving de-escalation and peace, to ensure the safety of states and peoples and to protect their economies and interests.”

Separately, the Saudi Cabinet moved to enhance defensive coordination and integration between Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan, and to activate cooperation pathways under the “Mecca Agreement for Joint Defense.”

This came during a Cabinet session chaired by Mohammed bin Salman in Jeddah, where the Cabinet was briefed on the contents of consultations and talks held in recent days between Saudi Arabia and friendly and sister countries.

Meanwhile, in Bishkek, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, addressing the summit of heads of state and government of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, affirmed that “the Mecca Joint Defense Alliance, based on regional ownership and collective deterrence, will significantly contribute to achieving peace and stability in the region and the world.”
