5,160 Grazing Permits... in 52 Days
- 830 subsidized feed transactions issued to beneficiaries on the first day of September
As part of its efforts to curb unregulated grazing, actively contribute to pasture sustainability, and preserve livestock assets, the Public Authority for Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources (PAAAF) continued to accept applications for grazing licenses until the deadline set for October 1 next year. The total number of grazing licenses issued since the application window opened on July 19 stands at 5,160, distributed across nine regions in the northern and southern parts of the country.
In this context, the PAAAF has called on livestock breeders who have not yet completed the procedures for obtaining a grazing license to visit the Authority and finalize the required steps, which include selecting a site from among the authorized locations, to complete licensing requirements.
The Authority clarified that October 10 is the final deadline for visits and completing procedures, urging concerned parties to take the initiative and finalize licensing requirements within the specified period. It warned that previous transactions related to feed distribution would be considered incomplete if no visit is made, and emphasized the necessity of fulfilling all requirements by the set deadline.
It is worth noting that most designated grazing areas have been almost fully allocated, with only the Al-Salmiya area in the north remaining. Currently, owners of livestock pens (halal) are expected to begin preparing their sites, transferring their livestock, and organizing their operations in accordance with approved regulations.
The Authority previously highlighted the importance of everyone adhering to the conditions and regulations governing grazing, to ensure the organization of activities, protect land and pastures, and prevent violations and non-compliant practices, thereby avoiding legal accountability, as grazing without a license is a legal offense.
On another note, the Authority resumed the distribution of subsidized feed for the current month of September after a two-day halt due to a technical malfunction affecting the automated system. Subsidized feed was distributed to approximately 830 beneficiaries on Tuesday.
