Al-Khatib: Our match against Al-Qadsia was very difficult
Al-Qurain secured a precious victory against Al-Qadisiya in the “Summit” clash, marking the start of the second round of the Zain Premier League for football, raising their tally to four points while Al-Qadisiya remained on their previous total of three points.
Al-Qadisiya’s coach, Firas Al-Khatib, explained that this win is extremely important at the beginning of the league, especially since they started with two tough matches against Al-Arabi (3-3) and Al-Qadisiya, emerging with four points. He emphasized that Al-Qadisiya accepts nothing but victories.
He added that their match against Al-Qadisiya was very difficult, as Al-Qadisiya delivered an excellent first half both tactically and physically, which affected them in the second half. During that period, Al-Qadisiya players exerted great effort, which was commendable, as they were well-organized, contributing to their win.
Regarding the upcoming match against Al-Jahra, Al-Khatib said: “Al-Jahra is a club with a distinguished history in Kuwaiti football and has achieved excellent results against Al-Arabi. We respect all the teams we will face, as every match will feel like a final. This season differs from previous ones, as there is no third division, and every point is crucial.”
In terms of the match itself, both teams shared control of the game across the two halves, with Al-Qadisiya having the upper hand in the first half and Al-Qadisiya dominating the second. Both goalkeepers, Hamid Al-Qallaf (Al-Qadisiya) and Saud Al-Houshan (Al-Qadisiya), shone throughout the match, helping to ward off numerous dangerous balls and clear-cut chances until the final minute, when Marhan scored the winning goal for his team.
Both teams began the match cautiously, with play concentrated in the midfield and spaces tightly closed, resulting in limited attacking opportunities. Al-Qadisiya was the more proactive side in the first half.
Before the end of the first half, in the fifth minute of stoppage time, Al-Shabab managed to score through a brilliant strike by Omar Al-Hubaitir, taking the lead into the second half. Al-Shabab then adopted a defensive and retreating approach to protect their goal. Subsequently, Al-Qadisiya’s Ali Taher was sent off after receiving his second yellow card.
Despite being down to ten men, Al-Qadisiya continued to attack and push forward, eventually scoring an own goal in the 70th minute. A powerful shot by Al-Qadisiya’s Mubarak Saed struck Al-Shabab’s Munir Al-Subaie, deflecting off him and surprising the goalkeeper to find the net, ending the match in a positive draw.
