Zain League: Kuwait snatches the top spot from Al-Qadsia

Al-Kuwait managed to snatch a precious victory against Al-Qadsia in the “Summit” clash played tonight, marking the start of the second round of the Zain Premier League for football. The win lifted Al-Kuwait’s tally to four points, while Al-Qadsia (“The Yellow”) remained on their previous total of three points.

Both teams shared control of the match, with Al-Qadsia enjoying the upper hand in the first half and Al-Kuwait dominating the second. The goalkeepers of both sides, Hamid Al-Qallaf (Al-Qadsia) and Saud Al-Houshan (Al-Kuwait), shone throughout the match, helping to repel numerous dangerous balls and clear-cut chances until the final minute, when Marhan scored his surprise goal.

Both sides began the match cautiously, with play concentrated in the midfield and spaces tightly marked, resulting in a limited number of attacks. Al-Salmiya (the “Crosses”) took the initiative in the first half.

Before the end of the first half, in the fifth minute of stoppage time, Al-Shabab (the “Youth”) scored through a brilliant strike by Omar Al-Hubaitir, entering the second half defending and retreating to protect their goal. Shortly after, Al-Salmiya’s Ali Taher was sent off after receiving his second yellow card.

Despite being down to ten men, Al-Salmiya continued to attack and push forward, eventually scoring an own goal in the 70th minute. A powerful shot by Al-Salmiya’s Mubarak Saed struck Al-Shabab’s Munir Al-Subaie, deflecting off him and surprising the goalkeeper before finding the back of the net. The match ended in a positive draw.
