UAE denies "rumors" of targeting Al Minhad Air Base
The United Arab Emirates expressed its strong condemnation of the aggressive Iranian attack, which involved a drone that was intercepted by air defense systems over its territorial waters. This incident constitutes a serious escalation, representing a blatant violation of the state’s sovereignty, security, and stability, as well as a direct threat to the safety of citizens and residents.
The UAE emphasized that it will not compromise on protecting its security and sovereignty under any circumstances, and that it reserves its full and legitimate right to respond to such aggressions in a manner that ensures the protection of its sovereignty, national security, territorial integrity, and the safety of its citizens, residents, and visitors, in accordance with international law.
It further affirmed that “this targeting is condemned and rejected by all legal and humanitarian standards,” stressing the urgent need to halt these aggressive attacks immediately to ensure full compliance with a cessation of all hostile acts.
The Ministry of Defense also confirmed, as reported by the WAM News Agency, that claims regarding the targeting of Al-Minhad Air Base with missiles are “baseless.” It added that the armed forces remain on high alert and prepared to address any emerging threats, thereby safeguarding the state’s sovereignty, security, and stability.
In a statement on the X platform, the ministry called on the public to obtain information from official sources and to refrain from circulating rumors or inaccurate information.
For his part, Anwar Gargash, the diplomatic advisor to the President of the UAE, stated on X that the policy of targeting Gulf states and Jordan “has proven to be a failure.”
He added that “a state of no war and no peace cannot be a sustainable solution... What is required today are realistic and sustainable political solutions that address the political and economic dimensions of the crisis, beginning with de-escalation and the restoration of normal navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, leading to a more pragmatic approach that moves beyond the memorandum of understanding, which failed to chart a practical and acceptable path forward.”
He stressed in his statement the “united stance of the Gulf Cooperation Council states alongside the United Arab Emirates in confronting all threats to its security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.”
