Al-Aynawi Nears Move to Leipzig

German club RB Leipzig has reached a verbal agreement with Italian side AS Roma regarding the signing of Moroccan midfielder Nayef Aguerd, bringing the deal close to finalization.
According to Florian Plettenberg, a journalist at Sky Sport Germany, the agreement with Roma was reached on Sunday evening. The 25-year-old player will join Leipzig on a one-year loan deal for a fee of 4 million euros, with an option to purchase for 25 million euros.
Final details between the two clubs are still being finalized. Aguerd is expected to undergo a medical examination and sign the contracts shortly to complete the transfer before the deadline of the transfer window.
Aguerd was Leipzig’s preferred choice this summer to fill the number 6 or number 8 midfield roles, according to Plettenberg.
Aguerd is a key player for the Moroccan national team. He joined AS Roma in the summer of 2025, arriving from French club LOSC Lille on a five-year contract.
