KIB Achieves Digital Milestones in Retail Banking Services

The Retail Banking Division of Kuwait International Bank (KIB) achieved a series of tangible milestones during the first half of 2026, a move that underscores the bank’s firm commitment to keeping pace with digital transformation and intensifying its investments in developing its infrastructure, thereby enhancing its customer-oriented service ecosystem.

Nawaf Al-Kharif, Deputy General Manager of Retail Banking, emphasized the bank’s dedication to continuing investments in developing its digital capabilities and elevating the integration of technological solutions within its operational infrastructure, aligning with the rapid transformations reshaping the banking industry. He stated, “Amid the continuous evolution of customers’ lifestyles and their rising expectations, we prioritize turning these changes into practical banking solutions that offer customers greater flexibility and broader diversity, facilitating the effortless management of their financial operations.”

Al-Kharif added that customer insights, alongside the results of periodic analytical studies conducted by the sector on market realities, form the cornerstone for designing and developing product and service portfolios. He explained that through its precise reading of banking sector trends and direct monitoring of the needs of various customer segments, the bank continues to innovate high-quality solutions that enhance added value for customers and enrich their overall banking experience.

The Retail Banking Division worked on developing the digital infrastructure of its mobile application and expanding the scope of its available services. It introduced an instant credit card issuance feature against cash collateral, made app navigation clearer and easier for customers, and improved and simplified the account opening and new customer onboarding processes. Additionally, it updated the features available within the “WAGE” application, designed specifically for the workforce segment.

The bank also expanded the scope of its local and international money transfer services, making digital transfers easier and more flexible for customers. Furthermore, it launched an updated and comprehensive version of its rewards program, which integrated cashback and rewards into a single unified digital platform.

Money transfer activity through the bank saw a notable acceleration during this period. The “Wameed” service accounted for the largest share, processing over 660,000 transactions. “Western Union” recorded total transactions valued at approximately 107,000 dinars, while the value of transfers via the “Fast Transfer” service reached 789,000 dinars.

In this regard, Al-Kharif noted that offering a comprehensive suite of services via the smartphone app and streamlining procedures directly contributed to reducing reliance on traditional branches. This approach provides a secure banking experience that allows customers to complete their transactions with utmost ease and around the clock.

KIB expanded its nationwide network of ATMs, increasing the count to 141 machines, up from 125.

The KIB ATM network recorded its highest-ever historical transaction value, with cash withdrawals totaling 65 million dinars and total deposits reaching 23 million dinars. Al-Kharif pointed out that expanding the bank’s direct and electronic service channels is part of an integrated methodology to serve customers wherever they are, providing them with sufficient flexibility to choose the banking channels best suited to their needs and expectations.

The bank’s contact center received approximately 152,000 calls, averaging around 25,000 per month. Total interactions via the dedicated voice service reached 15,000, while video calls through Interactive Teller Machines (ITMs) amounted to approximately 13,500, reflecting the efficiency and speed of these services.

The bank offers multiple channels for direct communication, including instant messaging and video chat services available through the “KIB Mobile” app and its website, as well as a banking service accessible via the WhatsApp application. During the same period, the bank’s social media networks recorded approximately 15,000 interactions.
