Kuwait, represented by the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, participated in the CIGRE Paris 2026 conference held in the French capital, Paris. The event is one of the most prominent global gatherings specialized in power systems, bringing together a select group of experts, specialists, and decision-makers from various countries around the world.

In a press statement on Saturday, the ministry said that the Kuwaiti delegation, led by Deputy Minister Dr. Adel Al-Zamel, included Eng. Adhari Al-Mohammed, Chairwoman of the CIGRE Gulf Board, Eng. Sanaa Al-Gharib, Board Member, Dr. Abeer Al-Maimouni, representative of Kuwait University, along with a number of ministry engineers and specialists in the fields of electricity and energy.

The statement added that the delegation reviewed the latest studies and technologies in the development and operation of power systems, including battery-based energy storage technologies, advanced monitoring, measurement, and control systems, as well as several international experiences in electricity markets, energy exchange, digital solutions, and the integration of renewable energy sources.

According to the statement, the delegation toured the accompanying art exhibition of the conference, which features participation from more than 330 global specialized companies, and reviewed the latest equipment and solutions in high and medium voltage systems, protection, monitoring, and control systems, and digital technologies.

It noted that the Kuwaiti delegation held several technical meetings with representatives of international bodies, institutions, and specialized companies to exchange expertise and explore cooperation opportunities in the development of the power system and the utilization of modern technologies.

The delegation also received the "Best Paper Award" on behalf of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Interconnection Authority, which participated with the winning paper. Dr. Adel Al-Zamel accepted the award in the name of the Authority in his capacity as a member of its Board of Directors, in recognition of the paper and its distinctive technical and scientific contribution.

Kuwait’s participation comes within the framework of the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy’s efforts to keep pace with global developments and benefit from best practices and modern technologies, thereby supporting the development, efficiency enhancement, and sustainability of Kuwait’s power system.
