In furtherance of the strategic partnership between the two friendly countries, Kuwait’s Minister of Defense, Sheikh Abdullah Ali Al-Salim Al-Sabah, met with his Pakistani counterpart, Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Minister of Defense of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, in the capital Islamabad, during his official visit to Pakistan, where he was accorded a formal military reception.
The Ministry of Defense stated that the meeting reviewed Kuwait-Pakistan relations and explored prospects for close cooperation in the military and defense fields. It also discussed recent regional and international developments and issues of mutual interest, as well as efforts undertaken to support security and stability in the region.
The visit also saw the signing of a Defense and Joint Military Cooperation Agreement between Kuwait’s Ministry of Defense and Pakistan’s Ministry of Defense. The agreement was signed on behalf of the State of Kuwait by Minister of Defense Sheikh Abdullah Ali Al-Salim Al-Sabah, and on behalf of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan by Minister of Defense Khawaja Muhammad Asif, in the presence of Chief of General Staff Major General Khaled Al-Sharhan and Kuwait’s Ambassador to Pakistan Nasser Al-Rashed Al-Mutairi.
The signing of this agreement represents a significant milestone in the military and defense cooperation between the two countries, serving as a supportive framework to enhance operational coordination, exchange expertise, and raise the readiness and integration levels of the armed forces, thereby serving common interests and contributing to regional security and stability.
During the meeting, the parties discussed existing coordination between the armed forces of both countries and opportunities to develop areas of joint work, alongside exchanging views on various topics related to bilateral relations, which contribute to supporting and developing defense cooperation between the two friendly countries.
The Minister of Defense and the accompanying delegation returned to the country on Thursday evening, where they were welcomed upon arrival by Chairman of the Public Authority for Civil Aviation Sheikh Hamoud Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Deputy Chief of General Staff Major General Sabah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, and members of the Military Defense Council.
