Morocco: National Security denies breach of its information systems or databases

In a statement issued today, Thursday, it was confirmed that “the personal data recently published were in no way the result of a cyber intrusion into the security information systems, but rather old data that had been downloaded from databases and information systems overseen by insurance companies and health and social coverage organizations.”

The statement warned against “the repeated publication of fabricated photographs, presented in a misleading and biased manner as belonging to female and male employees across various security agencies, as well as the circulation of documents and records altered through distortion and forgery, under the pretext that they are security documents. These images and documents clearly exhibit their fake and forged nature, given the use of uniforms and military ranks that do not exist in Morocco and are not in use within the National Security apparatus. Furthermore, the leaked documents contain obviously incorrect visual identities and glaring linguistic errors.”

The statement continued, noting that “the Directorate General of the National Security and the Directorate General of Territorial Surveillance, while keen to refute and debunk all false news claiming a cyber intrusion into security data systems—which are not connected to networks open to the Internet—emphasizes that security investigations and inquiries will continue under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, to apprehend and arrest all those involved in fabricating, preparing, and disseminating these false contents to the public.”
