The Cabinet placed the project for the new Kuwait International Airport “T2” under direct supervision from the heart of the project, holding its meeting on Tuesday, chaired by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, at the passenger terminal building of the airport project. He reviewed the implementation status of the three project packages.
In light of the Cabinet’s interest in monitoring the implementation of projects, and on the sidelines of the Prime Minister’s tour accompanied by ministers to the new airport project, His Highness and the ministers were briefed on the latest developments regarding the project’s implementation status and all matters related to its execution according to the three project packages.
His Highness the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of the new Kuwait International Airport T2 project as one of the country’s major developmental projects, stressing the importance of cooperation and coordination among all government entities and the Ministry of Public Works to remove any obstacles that may hinder the project’s implementation, with the aim of accelerating work pace to achieve continuous progress in executing this vital project according to the specified schedule for its operation, as this project represents a qualitative leap in the field of air transport for the State of Kuwait.
His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Al-Abdullah expressed his sincere gratitude and appreciation for the significant efforts made by the Minister of Defense, Sheikh Abdullah Ali Al-Salim Al-Sabah; the Minister of Public Works, Dr. Noura Al-Mashaan; the Chairman of the Public Authority for Civil Aviation, Sheikh Hamoud Mubarak Al-Jaber Al-Sabah; and those responsible for the project and relevant government entities, represented by the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Finance, the Court of Accounts, the Office of Fatwa and Legislation, and the Central Tenders Committee, for their role in accelerating the implementation of the project’s works.
In this context, the Cabinet was informed of the Public Authority for Civil Aviation’s membership in Airports Council International (ACI), a step that enhances the State of Kuwait’s presence within the global airport network and supports efforts to develop the Kuwait International Airport system in accordance with best practices and international standards. The Airports Council International is the global organization representing airport interests, comprising 811 members managing more than 2,200 airports in over 160 countries worldwide.
The Airports Council International works to enhance the safety, security, efficiency, and sustainability of airports, as well as to improve service quality and the passenger experience. The Public Authority for Civil Aviation’s membership in the Airports Council International enables leveraging expertise, data, training programs, and international standards, participating in specialized committees and events, and exchanging best practices with major global airports, thereby contributing to enhanced operational efficiency, development of national cadres, and improved passenger experience.
The Cabinet reviewed a number of topics on the agenda, reports, and minutes of ministerial committees, and approved them. It also decided to refer several items to the relevant ministerial committees for study and to submit appropriate recommendations to complete the procedures for their implementation.
At the outset of its meeting, the Cabinet was briefed on the contents of a written letter received from General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, Chairman of the Sovereignty Council of the Republic of the Sudan, on Wednesday last, addressed to His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. The letter pertains to the fraternal bilateral relations between the two sister countries and ways to enhance and develop them across various fields. The letter was delivered to His Highness the Crown Prince, Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, by Muhieddin Salem, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of the Sudan, during his official visit to the State of Kuwait accompanied by a delegation.
The Cabinet was also briefed on the contents of the meeting held on Monday last between His Highness the Crown Prince, Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, and General Muhammad Asim Malik, National Security Advisor and Director General of the Inter-Services Intelligence of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, during his visit to the country, accompanied by a delegation. Furthermore, the Cabinet was briefed on the contents of a telephone call received on Monday last by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Prime Minister, from the Prime Minister of the friendly French Republic, Sebastien Lecornu. Additionally, the Cabinet was briefed on the contents of the meeting held on Monday last between His Highness the Prime Minister and General Muhammad Asim Malik, National Security Advisor and Director General of the Inter-Services Intelligence of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, during his visit to the country, accompanied by a delegation.
