Al-Sharq: Syria Today Tears a Page from Its Painful Past

Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa affirmed that Syria today is shaking off a dark chapter from its shoulders and tearing a page from its painful past, embarking on a path of development, reconstruction, and nation-building, according to the official Syrian News Agency (SANA).

In a message to Syrians today, al-Sharaa said, “Great people of Syria, you have done it again. The sanctions have been lifted and the restrictions removed. May God help us serve you.”

Earlier, on Monday, the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) issued an official update to its sanctions regulations, announcing the removal of Syria from the list of state sponsors of terrorism. This move followed the completion of the legal procedures related to congressional review, with no objections registered.
