Governor of the Central Bank of Syria welcomes Washington's decision to remove Syria from the list of state sponsors of terrorism

The governor of the Central Bank of Syria, Safwat Rusal, welcomed the United States’ decision on Monday to remove his country from the list of state sponsors of terrorism, ending a designation that had been in place for 47 years.
In a post on the X platform commenting on the U.S. decision, Rusal wrote, “Ending Syria’s designation as a state sponsor of terrorism is a historic step that restores it to its rightful place within the global economic system,” adding that the central bank is working “to build a modern, reliable financial system capable of keeping pace and capitalizing on all opportunities.”
