Torres delighted by 'Parisian atmosphere'

Spanish striker Ferran Torres expressed his delight at helping his new club, Paris Saint-Germain, avoid defeat against hosts Rennes, scoring two equalizing goals in a 2-2 draw in his debut for the team in the opening round of Ligue 1.

While the capital club was heading into the season opener with a loss after Rennes took a two-goal lead in the first half through Poland’s Sebastian Szymański (9th minute) and Esteban Lebogang (38th minute), Torres, who joined from Barcelona and scored the winning goal for Spain in last month’s World Cup final against Argentina to secure their second world title, shone by netting a brace after coming on early in the second half (71st and 82nd minutes).

In comments relayed by the Ligue 1+ platform, Torres said the match was extremely difficult, emphasizing that the team was not satisfied with the result due to their strong desire to win, but acknowledged that securing a point was an important step.

The Spanish striker added that it was wonderful to play his first match in front of the Parisian fans who attended the stadium, noting that the feeling would be even stronger and more beautiful when playing at the Parc des Princes.

Torres praised the team’s atmosphere, confirming that Paris Saint-Germain boasts an excellent group of players and wonderful personalities who helped him settle in and feel comfortable from his very first day.
