Children and Youth Evoke Kuwait... In Its Sea and Land

Artist Mohammed Al-Muhanna conducted a specialized art workshop teaching drawing fundamentals to children and youth at the Modern Art Museum, as part of the eighteenth edition of the “Summer Cultural” festival. The three-day workshop witnessed active participation, with attendees finding in art a means to express their vision of Kuwait and its cultural and heritage characteristics.

The workshop focused on creating artworks inspired by Kuwait’s past and present. Al-Muhanna emphasized incorporating elements of the local environment into participants’ drawings, by evoking historical buildings and landmarks, customs and traditions, national holidays and occasions, as well as the sea and land, among other motifs that form part of the place’s memory and Kuwaiti identity.

During the workshop days, participants demonstrated creativity by drawing various heritage and vibrant Kuwaiti landmarks, offering diverse artistic perspectives that reflected their imagination and interests. The atmosphere was marked by enthusiasm and interaction, with Al-Muhanna keen on encouraging children and youth to discover their artistic abilities and develop their drawing and visual expression skills.

Al-Muhanna expressed his happiness at conducting the workshop, thanking the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters for nominating him to participate in the “Summer Cultural” festival. He emphasized that working with a new generation of young creators is a distinctive experience and a source of joy for him, particularly because such workshops provide children with the opportunity to discover and hone their talents in an inspiring artistic environment.

He added that the workshop was not limited to teaching drawing basics; it also aimed to introduce participants to the beauty and details of Kuwait, encouraging them to view their surrounding environment as a rich source of artistic inspiration. He wished them success and continued development of their talents in the coming years.
