448 million dinars in stock market gains supported by FTSE Russell review

Key indices of the Kuwait Stock Exchange closed higher yesterday, coinciding with the release of the half-year review of the FTSE Russell indices. The main index rose by 0.85 percent, the First Market index by 0.75 percent, the Main Market index by 1.33 percent, and the Main 50 index by 0.85 percent. Liquidity increased by 10.9 percent to KD 105.03 million, while the volume of traded shares rose by 12.5 percent to 389.6 million shares.

The market capitalization of listed shares increased by 0.85 percent, adding KD 448 million to reach KD 53.211 billion, compared to KD 52.763 billion at the close of last Thursday’s session. Companies in the First Market gained KD 363 million, while those in the Main Market added KD 121 million. The session’s performance was supported by gains in 12 sectors, led by consumer goods, which rose by approximately 4.81 percent.

The half-year FTSE Russell review included the addition of four shares to the micro-cap list, against the removal of three from the same list. The changes will take effect upon the close of the session on Thursday, September 17.
